What is Apollo A500 Silicone Sealant?
Apollo A500 silicone sealant is a one-component, neutral-curing joint sealant. When exposed to air, it cures into a rubber-like elastic material with high flexibility and strong adhesion. The product belongs to the Apollo Silicone brand, manufactured to high quality standards, and is used for sealing joints, waterproofing, and fixing connections in civil and industrial construction.
Composition and Neutral-Curing Mechanism
Unlike many traditional acid-cure silicone sealants, Apollo A500 uses a neutral-curing system that does not produce a strong odor and does not corrode materials such as galvanized steel or concrete. When exposed to air, the sealant cures through a moisture reaction, forming a flexible sealing layer that remains durable and does not peel off over time.

Adhesion and Elastic Performance
One of the outstanding characteristics of Apollo A500 is its strong adhesion to many non-porous materials such as glass, aluminum frames, metal, ceramic tiles, and glass blocks. Its ±12.5% movement capability allows the seal to remain elastic even under temperature fluctuations or slight vibration. This is especially important for horizontal joints or elevated positions where gravity has an effect.
Weather and Chemical Resistance
The product offers excellent durability when exposed to UV rays, temperatures from -50°C to +150°C, humidity, ozone, and common cleaning chemicals. Therefore, Apollo A500 is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use without cracking, peeling, or deformation over time.
Low Odor and Indoor-Friendly
Unlike many sealants that produce a strong smell, Apollo A500 is nearly odorless and safe for use in enclosed spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. This makes it an ideal choice for interior renovation or construction in occupied buildings.

Sealing Glass, Aluminum Frames, and Non-Porous Materials
This is the most common use of Apollo A500. It bonds well to glass surfaces, aluminum door and window frames, non-porous wall surfaces, and metals. With high elasticity and adhesion, it effectively seals gaps against water and air leakage, especially in rainy or hot weather conditions.
A major advantage is that Apollo A500 does not stain glass and does not corrode aluminum or powder-coated metal — a common issue with low-quality sealants.
Indoor and Outdoor Construction Projects
Thanks to its resistance to weather, UV rays, and temperature changes, Apollo A500 is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. It is commonly used for:
Sealing joints between walls and kitchen countertops or sinks
Sealing gaps in wooden doors, aluminum-glass doors, and shower glass partitions
Fixing decorative materials to brick, stone, or aluminum-glass surfaces outdoors
A500 is also used for ceiling joints, gaps between walls and water/electrical pipes, without peeling after long-term use.
Is Apollo A500 Suitable for Aquariums?
Although it adheres well to glass, Apollo A500 is not designed for continuous water immersion such as aquariums or water tanks. Long-term submersion may reduce durability and cause peeling. For aquariums, use specialized aquarium silicone such as Apollo Aquarium or acid-cure silicone made for aquatic use.

Step 1: Surface Preparation
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, and contaminants
For metal surfaces, lightly sand to improve adhesion
Apply masking tape around the joint (if needed) to prevent smearing
Step 2: Apply Apollo A500 Sealant
Cut the nozzle at about a 45° angle
Apply sealant continuously with moderate pressure
Press gently so the sealant fully fills the joint
Smooth the surface with a finger or flat tool
Remove masking tape (if used)
Step 3: Join the Surfaces
Position the materials as desired
Press to secure the joint
Hold for a few minutes until the surface sets
When Not to Use A500
Apollo A500 is not suitable for continuous water immersion such as aquariums, water tanks, swimming pools, or constantly wet areas. Avoid using it in:
Underground joints lacking air/moisture for curing
Structures subject to mechanical load, tension, or compression
High-movement joints such as large expansion joints, door hinges, or load-bearing glass
In such cases, use specialized sealants such as Apollo A600 or polyurethane (PU) sealants.
Why It Cannot Be Painted
After curing, the silicone surface is not compatible with water-based, oil-based, or industrial paints. Paint may peel, fail to adhere, or discolor. For aesthetic requirements, choose the appropriate sealant color (milky white or clear) beforehand.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. After use, seal the nozzle tightly to prevent curing inside the tube. Shelf life is 12 months from the manufacturing date. Expired or long-opened sealant may not cure properly and will have reduced adhesion.
Choose Apollo A500 when you need:
Interior sealing in occupied spaces (low odor, safe)
Sealing glass, aluminum, and non-porous materials with high durability
Light waterproofing in bathrooms, kitchens, and wall joints
Overhead or horizontal joints (non-sag performance)
With its strong technical performance and safety, Apollo A500 silicone sealant is a smart choice for both residential and professional construction. It is easy to apply, provides strong adhesion, and is user-friendly thanks to its low odor and excellent weather resistance. If you need a versatile neutral-cure silicone sealant, Apollo A500 is a reliable option.
